The Apostle Paul gave this charge to Timothy in his final epistle: “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also” (2 Tim. 2:2). Paul would soon be martyred (See 2 Timothy 4:6), and he wanted to ensure others would continue his church planting and discipleship efforts. Who would lead the church after his departure? He gave Timothy this simple pattern of succession to ensure continuity, accountability, and stability. It is our biblical mandate (and call) to raise up the next generation of Biblical Counselors (Matthew 28:19).
